Our Planet

We are continually told about global warming due to excessive carbon emissions. You might say, how can I help, it's down to the world governments and leaders?...we can all help in our own way....make it your own community spirit.

Get together with friends and neighbours and make a plan. Save energy, cut down on personal use of cars, etc. We are now subjected to so many increased taxes (car tax being one) that we are being forced to comply. We should all be worried about the state of the planet we live on, we should preserve it for our offspring...make it a better place to live in.

Governments are experimenting with different forms of energy i.e. bio fuels, wind power, solar panels, water power, etc.  Yes, I think that some of them are very good but not so sure about some of them.

Governments are depriving us of the naturally occurring energy which controls our planet....Rainforests.

Rainforests are the jewel in our kingdom. Rainforests act as the world's thermostat by regulating temperatures and weather patterns. Rainforests are critical in maintaining the Earth's limited supply of drinking and fresh water. Rainforests provide many important products for us: timber, coffee, cocoa and many medicinal products. More than 2,000 tropical forest plants have been identified by scientists as having anti-cancer properties. Less than 1% of these have been identified for their medicinal value.

Originally, 6 million sq. miles of tropical rainforest existed worldwide. But, as a result of deforestation, only 2.6sq miles remain. More than 56,000 sq miles of natural forest are lost each year. We are now advised to plant a tree... but, honestly, how long does it take a tree to grow to maturity...a lifetime.
