What are we doing wasting all this food?
Latest news is that in the UK alone, 6.7 million tons of food is wasted every year.
That is enough, according to newspaper reports, to fill Wembley Stadium eight times.
And to make matters worse, more than half of that 6.7 million tons of food is untouched and perfectly edible according to the government-funded Waste and Resources Action Programme.
The total value of that thrown away food is £10 billion. Think what we could all do with that amount of money.
At a time when food costs are rising rapidly and there is a worldwide food crisis, I believe food wastage is something every family should think about and, if they are wasting food, find ways of stopping it.
If you have an opinion, let me know. Restaurants, we want to hear from you too!
